PVS Structures

Friday, April 27th – Six Westside High School Students toured the PVS Metals and Structures facilities as a part of their high school welding class. The students were able to see the full process of steel fabrication from design to final product. This included; design development, pre-construction, detailing, project management and production.  The students had the opportunity to meet with experienced welders to discuss issues and ask questions.

The tour was led by President, Tyler Owen, WHS graduate. He discussed the Owen Industries Apprenticeship Program and his personal experiences with welding and working in the steel industry.

Thank you, Westside High School, Terry Hanna and John Bombac, we appreciate your support in promoting the future leaders in our industry!

Location: St. Paul, MN – Hoffman Bridge-Spanning the Mississippi River

Completed: November, 2017

Owner: Union Pacific Railroad

Contractor:  JF Brennan

Union Pacific contacted PVS Structures after a pier was damaged by a barge on the Mississippi River, in St. Paul, MN.  Upon collaboration, an accelerated steel design and fabrication plan was developed.  Innovative braced frame assemblies were fabricated that included a new steel cap and corresponding steel grillages.  PVS Structures fabrication included a seven day per week expedited fabrication cycle that delivered emergency spans ahead of projected schedule.  The steel installation “fits like a glove” and was performed by contractor JF Brennan.

What UPRR Construction is saying about PVS Structures:  PVS Structures reacted with an expedited timeline, after the initial schedule, upon request at five days ahead of original timeline.  The quality of product was at the highest level I have seen on any project; let alone an Emergency Order.  The deliveries where timely and trouble free.

Project notification of deliveries and contact by drivers was excellent
